Caerau Youths

Caerau Youths

Hello Resident

I am writing in relation to a number of reports of anti-social behaviour on Caerau Road and Blaencaerau Road during August.

Officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries to identify those responsible. This has included speaking with local residents, reviewing available evidence, and working closely with partner agencies.

As a result of these enquiries, a number of youths have been identified. Their parents or guardians have been spoken to, and anti-social behaviour referrals have been issued where appropriate.

Tackling anti-social behaviour remains a priority for us, and we would like to thank the community for continuing to report concerns.

The information provided by residents enables us to take positive action and work towards keeping the area safe for everyone.

ASB process

Informal interventions

Advice and warning letters.
Parent visits.
School engagement.
Referrals to youth support services.
Restorative approaches where suitable.

Formal ASB measures

A Community Protection Warning (CPW) can be issued if the legal threshold is met.
If behaviour continues, a Community Protection Notice (CPN) may follow.
Other civil powers such as injunctions can also be considered. These powers are available under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014

Youth offending involvement

Persistent or serious ASB may result in involvement from youth justice or youth offending services alongside police and partners.

Court orders

A Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) can be made against a young person aged 10 or over, but only following a criminal conviction and where the court considers it necessary to prevent further anti-social behaviour. It is not an automatic consequence of ASB or a CPN breach.
